4/15/2010: Ghana's Samuel Kuffour and Germany's Paulo Rink Join Global United Ranks

Defender Samuel Kuffour (left) and Paulo Rink (right) have joined the Global United side to play against the Dayton Dutch Lions at Bellbrook High School on April 30th at 7:00 p.m.

Samuel Kuffour had a storied career at top Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and has also played for other top clubs in Europe such as AS Roma, Ajax, Livorno, and etc. At 32 years of age last season, Kuffour almost made a move stateside to MLS's Chicago Fire but the deal was nixed because of visa issues. Kuffour now plays for Asante Kotoko in his native Ghana. Kuffour made 175 appearances, with 7 goals, for Bayern Munich between 1993 and 2005. Kuffour also has made 59 appearances for Ghana scoring 3 goals.

Kuffour is also a man of high moral integrity; If Kuffour wasn't a footballer, he has told the BBC that he would be a priest.

Paulo Rink is a Brazilian striker of German heritage, who became a naturalized citizen for Germany after scoring 29 goals in 88 games for German club Bayern Leverkusen between 1997 and 2001. For his performances at Leverkusen, Rink received 13 national team caps with Germany. Rink has been a traveling man as he has played for clubs in Germany, Brazil, Cyprus, and the Netherlands among many others. Paulo wrapped up his career in 2007 with 268 professional appearances and 98 goals.
