5/24/2010: Free Orange Legion and Discounted Crew Supporters Ticket Vouchers For Wednesday

As a part of Chipotle Group Night there will be free tickets for those Orange Legion supporters who have showed up strong on the far side of the stadium all season and also there will be discounted $4 dollar tickets for Crew supporters of the Nordecke, as we would like them to join us when a Crew game isn't going on and vice-versa. In a way it would be sort of an information sharing sort of thing between supporters, just as the Dutch Lions and the Crew have an information sharing relationship between their teams.

Ticket voucher directions:
1. Email us at theorangelegionnaire@live.com. If we know you from the Orange Legion or the Nordecke you'll get the discount right away, if we don't know you, you'll have to give us some details about your interest in standing with us and you'll need to stand on our side with us. We reserve the right to deny anyone just trying to get some free tickets with no interest in supporting the team in our way.
2. From this I'll make a list of names for both Orange Legion supporters and Nordecke supporters and leave it at the main ticket booth.
3. At the game, you'll have to print out the correct ticket voucher (either Orange Legion or Nordecke voucher) and present valid identification where this will be matched to the list. Make sure to get there by 6:45 or earlier as I'll likely take care of most of this at the gate and I cannot guarentee that others will let you in with the vouchers. After 6:45 I'll likely be in the section.
4. Have fun.

5/17/2010: Working On A Free Supporters Group Night

The Orange Legion may have a free supporters night for the next home game on Wednesday, May 26th against the Indiana Invaders. From what I heard it shouldn't be a problem since we have also done some giveaways for kids and midweek games are a tougher sale. If so I'll have a voucher on here that can be printed out. I'll have more information after tomorrow's office meeting, the information will be in The Orange Legion's weekly updates and email list.

5/14/2010: Orange Legion Supporters Deals & Other Updates

**I'm trying to work out some deals. We have a few fans in our Orange Legion who are going to Crew games because they already have half game packs with them. But, the Chivas game is a game where you can switch it out for another date with the Crew. So, we offered some Dayton fans free tickets if they're rowdy and will sit in the Orange Legion section this week instead. I've given away 8, I can give out a few more, as I'm trying to get people in that section to see how much fun it is and then they'll hopefully stick around. **Also, our next home game is a Wednesday game on May 26th at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday games are a tougher sale than weekend games for any team. So, I'm floating the idea of a free supporters or extremely discounted ticket for supporters in The Orange Legion for that game. The team has done this with some kid's groups, so I also want to do it for the crowd we have over there for one game to get people in there. I'll likely make a voucher to put on my website or forum that Orange Legion supporters can print out and present at the ticket booth, as I just want rowdy fans over there.

**We will have 6 two stick banners and a banner behind the section as well. I also have about 10 light & safe smoke bombs that we may light all at the same time when the Dutch Lions score.

**I made a flier for us. I can't get it out to everyone with free printing today. But, we'll put them up starting next Monday (about 5-10 of us will do this) at bars around town and other places where college types hang out. I figure this along with the possibility of free or discounted tickets for the supporters for the Wednesday game should help us out tremendously. Better weather for this week will too!

**Also we got a rowdy group of 8 this week with an extra drum (the guys on the drums in the first video too) and a group of 6 Dutch pilots that should get us bouncing over there this week. I hope for a group of 50, heck even more would be better this week; as this is a very important game as our first U.S. Open Cup qualifier.

**I'm also looking for a deal for our supporters on scarves. Supporters in the Orange Legion will get scarves for $12 bucks instead of $15. This is because I want and the management wants the Legion to hold up their scarves when the team comes over for an ovation after the game.

5/2/2010: Orange Legion News- Join Us, Drink With Us, Chant With Us

** Were moving up the banner making session this weekend to Tuesday, May 4th at 6:30 p.m. since I can't do it Wednesday night or Thursday night because of finals.

** Our goal is to make at least two banners a week, so eventually we have the whole visitors stand covered with banners. We'll likely make 2 banners Tuesday night, as well as four two sticks. The cost this week will be extremely low since we have one more large sheet left over from last weekend and tons of paint. So, all we need to buy is two queen size sheets, for a second large banner plus some two sticks, this will only cost 28 bucks total this week.. Which means with 10 to 15 of us in attendance to paint, the most each of us will need to chip in is like 2 or 3 bucks a person. The address is the same 4123 N. Linda Dr. in Bellbrook, Ohio. MAPQUEST IT!

** Some people questioned the location of our section since were still a relatively small group and if the sun is shining it can be annoying to sit there, etc. There are a couple of reasons why we are over where we are at.

~First off, were supposed to be Ultras (hardcore soccer support) so if your complaining about a little sun your in the wrong section anyways.

~Secondly, the stands directly behind goal do not have room for even the two banners we already made.

~Third, there is much more freedom being in an isolated corner farther away from the main stands then closer to the main group of fans, where there are mainly families. This make swearing and etc. less of an issue. Let's just keep it enjoyable for us and them by staying where we are at.

~Fourth, I heard that the Bellbrook officials won't allow us behind the one goal anyways.

~Fifth, I and many others in the section really liked the vibe we had going on the last week. Moving may ruin it, similiar to how moving the Nordecke would do it in Columbus. I like the freedom and that basically the whole visiting stands our are's. They were barely filled, except for us, during the Global United game. And, I would be happily surprised if we get more then 3,000 against the Cincinnati Kings.

So, overall, were staying where we are at. I have confidence our numbers are going to grow by the week and I want the whole visiting stands filled with our banners by week three or four. We want to make it a party that Amsterdam could be proud of over there. :-)



** Dayton Dutch Lions ruggedly handsome, defensive midfielder Yohan Wigger requested that we stick around longer the next game so that the team can come over and give us a clap or bow (similiar to how the Crew do it in Columbus). So, we need to stick around for 5-10 minutes and continue chanting next Saturday.

** We got about 3 or 4 chants going last weekend. Not bad considering the Nordecke has been around for two more years and probably only has 4 or 5 more chants then that. While were doing the banners Tuesday night we need to work on thinking up more- I already have some ideas that I didn't bother to try last Friday because it was just an exhibition and we weren't as concerned with chanting as we would be for our regular season.

** When or if I get a chance, busy week for me with three finals, I'll go to MacIntosh's down the road and see if we can get any beer deals before games for supporters. Either way, some of us will meet there a few hours before the Cincinnati game to have a few beers, probably likely around 4:30. I'll probably have to have a beer, leave and set up a few things at the stadium, and come back. We'll see.

5/1/2010: Orange Legion Video Footage From Global United Game

Leo goes to Hooters: Oh it's a tough job being Leo the Lion but someone's got to do it.

Below is some random footage of last night's game from The Orange Legion section. Come join us for our next banner making session (as our goal is to likely make 2-3 banners per week), the session will likely be Tuesday night (more details to come) and next week is very important as Saturday, May 8th is the start of our season against close proximity rival Cincinnati Kings. The Dutch Lions must win their first four games to get into the U.S. Open Cup (with the chance to face off against MLS clubs) which is a very important contest for this club. 4/30/2010: Orange Legion Seating

Just go to where the two Orange banners will be on the visiting side of Miami Valley South Stadium. It may or may not be roped off for supporters. The first two weeks we won't likely meet up beforehand at MacIntosh's or another bar because the games are on a Friday, we'll probably start meeting on Saturday's behorehand starting with the second game in May.

4/25/2010: Banner Making Session Details- 6:30 P.M., Wednesday April 28th

**The Orange Legion is having their first banner making session on Wednesday, April 28th at 6:30 p.m. The address of the place where we are making the banners is in the garage of a member at 4123 N. Linda Dr. in Bellbrook, Ohio. Mapquest it from your location.

We'll likely try to get a 12 pack of beer or two and some music. As this usually made it more enjoyable when we made these in Columbus.

**Everyone that shows up will need to pitch in $10 to $20 bucks if they can for supplies. I'll be throwing in at least $30 bucks. If you can't pitch in on supplies this time it is okay. But, please try to pitch in something. If we can get 10 to 15 guys to pitch in at least $10 bucks we should be able to make some good stuff.

**Once we get some money pooled together, some of us will go to Wal Mart to make the purchases (paint, paint brushes, drop clothes, and sheets).

**If anyone has a projector that we can borrow, please bring it. If not I'll try to get my hands on one by Wednesday. We could freehand some banners, but doing banners by projector is a lot faster and easier to achieve.

**Also someone asked me about tickets for the section. The whole stadium is general admission. I'm going to talk to some of the people in the office about roping off an area for us starting with the Global United game. The area will be a small block to start off with and as the season goes on and we expand, we'll likely increase that block.

As we get more organized as a Supporters Group we'll talk to the front office about a ticket deal for us (or even about us selling our own tickets as the supporters in the Nordecke in Columbus do). Eventually, not sure about this year, we'll have specific tickets for our section. But, General Admission with a roped off section for us should do the trick for now.

**So, on Wednesday we'll likely make one medium sized banner with "Orange Legion" on it and some sort of design (like a Legionnaire on it). Then we will make at least one smaller banner and about 5 two sticks. That should be a good start for us this week and if we can achieve all of that in one night we'll be in good shape. Then we can look into making more things the week after for the Cincinnati Kings game.

**I'm also going to try to get a membership/about us page up on my website here sometime this week. I'll take pictures of us making banners, so after that I can add those pictures to this page, to hopefully entice others to join in our efforts.

**We also have some drums that we can likely paint orange as well on Wednesday.

3/12/2010: Orange Legion Supporters Bar Location?

The Orange Legion supporters need to find a bar to congregate and share ideas before the games. Personally, I think an ideal location would be The Pub about 8-10 minutes from Miami Valley South Stadium in Beavercreek, Ohio. It's got a great European football type atmosphere, it shows EPL games, it has beer from all over, and it is close to the stadium.

I'm not originally from the area. But, I'm looking to visit The Pub tonight after I check out tonight's try out, so I'll give my verdict later. By the way, try outs will kick off around 7 to 7:15 p.m. at Bellbrook High School's Miami Valley South Stadium, so if you want to check that out stop by tonight.

Whatever location we all decide for a supporters bar, I'm going to try to get a Orange Legion supporters group meeting going at either the Pub or wherever it is decided either on Saturday March 20th or Sunday March 21st or Sunday March 28th (sorry 27th I'll be checking out Crew vs. TFC). But, some weekend time where everyone can start bringing together ideas for the Orange Legion and deciding when we can meet to make banners and etc.
